PRO – LIFE?
It is so interesting to listen to and read the convoluted reasoning of the so-called Pro-Lifers or as they should be called “Anti-Free Choice haters.” Many of these “pro-lifers are also anti-stem cell research which could save countless lives, pro-capital punishment and pro-war. They rejoice when we go to war against the evil terrorists but don’t want to acknowledge that our “not very smart bombs kill thousands of innocent civilians and pregnant mothers with unborn children in them.” That’s called military abortion. Are you proud of that? You can thank “w” for all the preemptive war bombing abortions he gave Iraq. They use the same kind of logic that our country’s founders fought against when this country was created. Our country was founded on getting away from the moralizing dogmatism of the European fundamentalist persecutors who insisted on imposing their view of the Christian religion and morality on everyone. Freedom of religion and from religion in 1776 meant a much different thing then than it does today. Our present day literalist “pro-life hypocrites” see the sin in everyone else but fail to see the plank in their own eye. When I ask most of these pro-lifers what kind of birth control they use they tell me, the pill, an I.U.D. or something like that. When I explain to them that by their own definition they are murdering human life they protest and claim I am a liar. You see, birth control pills and I.U.D.’s don’t prevent fertilization of the egg by sperm. They just keep them from implanting into the uterine wall thus not allowing the fertilized egg to grow and thrive on the woman’s uterine wall. It is destroyed or as they would say “Murdered.” Now how many people who say they are against abortion use the same form of birth control? Before you point fingers maybe you need to look in the mirror. These anti-choice hypocrites love to quote scripture about before we were formed in our mothers womb God knew us. Well, I agree with that. Even before we were a twinkle in our parent’s eyes, God knew us. God knows who will be born and who will not. That proves nothing relative to abortion. Did you know that over 60 percent of all fertilized eggs are expelled and destroyed naturally by the body (God’s way of aborting)? Do we have funerals for all of those doomed fertilized eggs? I don’t think so. Most women aren’t even aware of having fertilized eggs that have been rejected by their bodies. Many people need to get real and practice some intellectual honesty about this issue. Not everyone agrees as to when a fetus becomes a human with a soul. Many believe the soul indwells at birth and others when the brain develops. Our personal religious beliefs determine this. Don’t impose your religious beliefs on others who don’t share your views. You can believe that it occurs at conception and refuse any form birth control and abortion at any time during pregnancy but don’t expect everyone to agree with you and force your view on others by enacting a law that will only force women to go back to having illegal and dangerous abortions just like it was before 1973. Those days were marred with untold numbers of horrible deaths to women, sterilizations and unwanted children. There has always been abortion and there always will be. The question is, are we going to stick our heads in the sand and be hypocrites or are we going to confront reality and stay out of the private medical decisions of others?
