Republicans on Wrong Side of History

A brief look at history proves that Republicans have been consistently on the wrong side of history. From their non-solutions to the great depression to Social Security, Medicare, Civil Rights, Women’s Rights, Wage and Price Controls, Government corruption (Watergate, Iran-Contra, & Iraq), campaign financing, tax policy and irresponsible budgetary policies creating huge deficits out of huge surpluses they have consistently been on the wrong side of each of these issues. Even their greatest achievement which was their “Contract on America” led by Newt was false. They took control of Congress and immediately turned into the very thing they railed against the democrats for, being irresponsible big spenders. The result is the largest deficit in history. They ignored many of the promises they made like balancing the budget and term limits as though that was just a way to trick people in order to gain power. The culmination has been the guy who told us he was compassionate and definitely not a “Nation Builder” while he has bankrupted America to the tune of a “Quarter Trillion Dollars” doing just that over the last four years. They are consistent though. They always side with big business and against workers, always for the greedy and against the needy. They are always ready to find new ways to take away any security for the average citizen. They claim moral religious superiority but when Christ’s teachings are advocated they call them “socialistic” and unpatriotic. Yes they seem to always be on the wrong side of history but they excel at media manipulation, misleading political advertising and brainwashing the electorate by fear and demagoguery. They are successful at being elected by lying to the public and no one holds them accountable. Barnum and Bailey were right. A sucker is born every minute and the Republicans have mastered the art of the side show illusionist.
